Personal branding: why you shouldn't call yourself an expert

This is an interesting article in terms of both marketing and personal presentation (in the Dale Carnegie form.)

Third party endorsement and "social proof" aren't new concepts to me, but it is interesting to read that so many people are trying to short cut around these necessary steps to achieve popularity and acclaim.

On the subject of endorsement, this is the umpteenth time I've had someone endorse Robert Cialdini's Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion.

With 15+ years of experience you can label yourself an expert, but otherwise, stick to "professional".
